Thanks to the work I did to setup games for Tacticon I have a number of new features that are going to be in the next build. - Mechwarrior Skills Tab - I added a new tab to the Unit dialog (double click a unit name) which contains a number of new features:
- BV Sorted Skill Selection with Filter - This feature will list all possible skills from 0/0 to 7/7 from the highest BV first down to the lowest bv. You can then filter this list by one of the following:
- Max BV: Enter the maximum bv value and the list will filter out any skill that puts the BV of the unit over this value.
- Max Skill Seperation: This is the maximum allowed difference between skills. I generally set this to 3 as I allow a 2/5 seperation but if you want skills that are closer together set this lower.
- Minimize: This allows you to select Neither (default), Gunnery, or Piloting. By selecting Gunnery you are saying that you only want to include skill choices where the Gunnery is lower then or equal to the piloting (ie 2/3, 3/3, 0/3, etc). Piloting does the same expect switched (ie. 3/3, 5/2, 3/0, etc).
- Random Selection - This feature allows you to select either Random, Green, Regular, Veteran, or Elite depending on your scenario's needs and generate a random set of skills. You can generate as many times as you like before applying the change. This feature uses the Total Warfare set of tables for selecting the random values.
- Mechwarrior List - This will list any Mechwarriors that have been entered or imported into the system using the Personnel Manager. You can create your unit's mechwarriors and simply "assign" them to the mech by selecting them from this list.
- Auto-Balance - This is a new button above the Force List that allows you to automate selecting the best possible skills for each unit in the list based on a BV maximum. After adding your forces simply click the Triangle icon and enter the Max BV and any other limits and each unit will be updated with the best matching skills. I use this feature specifically for my Grinder game types where I balance all Light mechs to the same BV max.
- Personnel Management - This feature allows you to create or import a Mechwarrior or list of Mechwarriors and there skills but also includes other data like Status, Quirks, Rank, Faction, and Notes. You can then use these pre-entered Mechwarriors to quickly assign them to a unit.
- The ability to use multiple files is rough and does not work completely at the moment. I will continue working on this as time goes on.
- Fire Declaration Chit Sheet - I saw a discussion about using Fire Declaration Chits and remembered how much work it was to make them. Now, when you print your Force List sheet it will include a sheet of chits that you can print, each unit in the list will get 3 chits, a Primary and two Secondaries. For this build it is auto-printed with the List so if you don't want it you will need to choose to print page 1 only. If you have more then 24 units in your list the Fire Declaration Chits will take 2 pages.
- After this build I will be working on making it so that you can select whether or not you would like to print this sheet.
- Manage Images Button - The button is on the top button bar and the icon looks like a stack of images. This will check to see if you have any units selected that do not have an image associated with it. You will then get a list of the Units without images and can click on each one to open a dialog that allows you to select the image to go with it. Once you select an image the SSW file will be auto-saved so that in the future the image will already be associated. This coincides with the new ability to print the Mech Image on the Unit sheet from BFB.
- Print Preview - This button will show you a preview of what the Sheet and Fire Declaration Chits will look like when printed. Based off my code in SSW it works in mostly the same way.
I expect to get this build out in the next day or two so keep an eye out for it here and on the Sourceforge project site. |
